Jewelry Rule #7

Jewels have an aversion to rummaging in the ice box….

Huh? Jewelry Rule #7, you confuse me. I translate this to…jewelry doesn’t like being kept in the freezer amongst the frozen peas and steak…

Well, once again…Unfortunately, this is something I can’t say I have not done…You know how sometimes you have something in your hand one minute and the next minute its gone! Following is minutes even hours, of retracing your steps only to find what you misplaced, of course, in the oddest of places? Well…one of the oddest places I have left something was in the freezer…I do not really know how this was done, but I think it goes a little something like this…

I was running around the house, getting ready in a rush….In the middle of the madness, my mother asked me to get something out of the freezer, I brought it to her, then asked her to help me with my bracelet, which was no longer have it in my hand…

I retraced my steps and low and behold…in the freezer it was…talk about wearing some ice…!

Haha things happen I guess!!

One more rule to go…Stay tuned…

Jewelry Rule #6

Hello dear readers!! I hope you had a good weekend!!!

I went for a play this weekend and was able to practice my graceful clap!! And yes, I was speaking to myself in my head in a British accent, thinking about my blog, and silently laughing…I really do know how to entertain myself!!!

Anyway, here we are…Jewelry Rule #6

Jewels prefer not to sleep with you….

Once again. Guilty! Are you surprised?! There just happen to be those nights where I come back late and just fall asleep- adorned with necklace, rings, bracelets…I mean sometimes they just need a good night’s sleep in a cozy bed, so I figure…why not just sleep with them?!

Many times in college I would wake up and find myself dressed and decorated with jewelry…sometimes the shape of the pendant of my necklace would be imprinted on my face, my necklaces would be very tangled, and once I even woke up with a broken necklace (which happened to be my favorite)…

But those days are long gone, and I sleep with my jewelry less and less..Although, sometimes I know they just want to sleep in a cozy bed…I know it’s not a good idea…

Jewelry Rule #5

Hello dear readers,

I hope you are being good at the start of 2010 and keeping up with your resolutions! Are you following the jewelry rules also? I hope so! Well here it is…Jewelry Rule #5…

Jewels detest being thrown, willy nilly, into a hand bag….

Willy nilly! I love that phrase…it makes me giggle..must add it to my vocabulary..

But yes, of course I am guilty of doing this…not just in my bags, but my drawers also…And I always wonder why my jewelry gets so tangled and why I have to spend untangling the huge mess…However, I am getting older and need to mature and become responsible (blah blah blah)…I need to start changing my ways. Marie Helene you are right! And I will….Spend two minutes putting my jewelry in a bag vs half hour detangling a mess…Thats 28 extra minutes in my day to do all the irresponsible things I want to do…WOW!!! (Just kidding….)

I do have many jewelry bags in a drawer, sitting there empty…Maybe I will sort those out a little later…

But for now…back to work! Have a happy day and no throwing your jewelry around “willy nilly!”

Jewelry Rule #4

Your rings will prefer that you applaud like a queen…

Come to think of it, when I do wear my rings and clap, I do recall that I hurt myself! So this is something I will definitely be happy trying! Images of me really concentrating on this are popping in my head….sitting up tall (correcting my posture is one of my resolutions anyway), clapping my hands in a graceful manner…Can I put on a British accent too?! This is going to be the Anjali of 2010! Next time you see me in an audience, look at me clap and you will see me doing just this…Feel free to laugh because in my head, know that I will be concentrating on this very hard, thinking of my blog, and most likely talking to myself in my head in a British accent. I will surely be laughing along with you!

Did you know that yesterday was called Blue Monday? Apparently, it was the most depressing day of the year. Good thing that comes early in the year. January tends to get to everybody turning blue, but I think the answer to turning into a bright, shiny, yellow is some retail therapy. Actually, that is the answer to all of life’s problems. So if you have been feeling blue, just get out there and shop! Don’t just browse because that is just boring, but go out, buy something you have had your eyes on for a real long time, and wear it and smile. Trust me, it works! It may not get you out of the January blues for good, but at least temporarily.

I just convinced myself to do the same. I look forward to buying this sweater I want and I will wear it for the play I plan to go to this weekend. At the end, when I applaud, I will sit up straight, clap my hands gracefully, congratulate myself in my head in a British accent for keeping up with my resolutions, and all with a huge smile on my face.

I cheered myself up just thinking of that.

Jewelry Rule #3

Jewels are not fond of perfume…

I actually did not know or ever think of this. Speaking of which, I am addicted to the all the scents by Escentric Molecules, which we do actually carry at Dresscode by Gita. These unisex scents mix with your natural oils to create aromas which are unique to each who wears them. Really, these scents are truly mesmerizing; I can not get enough..when I wear mine, everyone just finds me irresistible! Loads of people following me around, wondering why I smell so good. Thank you Molecules for making me feel like a movie star!

Anyway, enough of me ranting. I guess the chemicals in the the colognes can have an effect on your jewelry, causing some damage. I have not noticed anything on my jewelry, so I do not have much to say about this. I am going to keep dousing myself in my scents of the month, but yes, I will be careful not to have my jewelry on as I spray myself.

Our website is really coming along! We are hoping to have it up and running in just a matter of days!

Happy Friday!

Jewelry Rule #2

Hi everyone! Hope you have been keeping up with Marie Helene’s jewelry rules and you haven’t dropped/lost any of your jewelry in the last few days!! I haven’t!! 2010 is off to a great start!

I hope you are excited to hear jewelry rule #2! Jewelry rule # 2 states:

Jewelry, like cats, prefers not to shower…

Cats. I am not a fan of cats. I think they need to shower, and not just lick themselves clean. Jewelry on the other hand, should not be taken into the shower. However I am, of course, a culprit of this. I do get lazy to take off my watch and bracelets…It did happen a lot more in college when I was convinced my jewelry actually wanted to shower, smell good, and feel nice and clean! I also liked the worn look that my jewelry would take when it showered. However, I have been doing this less and less as I mature into a responsible adult…. :)

I don’t think I have showered with any jewelry on this year thus far! If you shower with your jewelry, try not to. It will ruin your pieces and you will just have to buy more and more…..hmm maybe showering with your jewelry is not such a bad idea come to think of it…. ;)

So the website is coming together slowly. I didn’t realize how much work actually goes into creating a website. I mean, I never really thought about what goes into building one…One of the reasons I love opportunities like this, I get to learn so much!

Well, it’s shower time…jewelry OFF!

Jewelry Rule #1

Happy Monday everybody! Sorry I wasn’t here to entertain you over the weekend, but I did get busy helping change our website!! If you haven’t yet, check out are new look at www.dresscodebygita.com! It is still a work in progress, but we are getting there slowly. We are back and better than ever in the new decade! Even though January is my least favorite month, I do love the new beginnings and fresh starts that come with it.

So, as I said in my last blog, we at Dresscode, have some New Year’s resolutions, and one of them is to follow Marie-Helene de Taillac’s 8 jewelry rules. You should try following them too! Looking at the jewelry rules, I am giggling to myself because they sort of state the obvious and as I read them, I found myself responding aloud with a “DUH,” but in reality, I do not follow any of them….!  So along with exercising more, eating healthier, reading more, and blah blah blah, I have added the jewelry rules to my list of New Year’s resolutions…

Jewelry Rule #1

Jewels, like most things, prefer not to be dropped….

Dropping jewelry can result in scratching your pieces and even worse, lost items! When I read this, many flashbacks of me searching for jewelry popped into my head (especially in college!). Over the years, I have found many half pairs of earrings unfortunately…years later, to find them behind my dresser, under my bed, once in my snow boot…yes my snow boot..I don’t mean to drop my jewelry, but my butter fingers and my absent mind has had me all over the place! Looking back, it is quite funny, but not when I need those earrings that would be perfect for my simple outfit, or that bold ring that would be the perfect complement to my handbag! I have definitely gotten better over the years though, lets call it growing into a mature, responsible adult…

Anyway, this year, I will not drop any of my jewelry…nor will I lose any. I will be more responsible in the way I handle my jewelry so that I do not have those hour long episodes of hunting and rummaging through my things to find what I am looking for!

Are you a culprit of this too? Or is it just me?! Well, see if you follow the rest of Marie’s rules. Keep popping in to see what they are!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year dear readers!!! Sorry I have disappeared but I, just like everyone else, have gotten caught up in the first week of the year enforcing my New Years resolutions…exercise more, read more, do more yoga, eat healthier, blah blah blah…well…after a strenuous few days I have to admit I am tired…but wait and see I will be holding up to my resolutions this year…

Dresscode’s also got some resolutions….We are going to follow Marie Helene de Taillac’s jewelry rules!!! Curious to know what they are?! ME TOO! Pop in tomorrow to find out!!!
